Phil Varona has been a member of Toastmasters since 2006, and in that time Phil has achieved many accomplishments in the areas of education, leadership and speech contests. Phil has earned his Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award and is currently working on completing a DTM for the second time. In the area of Leadership, Phil served as President of his home club, GSU Baton Rouge Toastmasters, during the 2010-2011 year. That year, he lead the club to President’s Distinguished with 10 out of 10 goals completed. Phil has also held four District Leadership positions, including serving as District 68 Governor for the 2014-2015 year. In the area of Speech contests, Phil has won at the District level four times, winning the District Evaluation contest three times and the District Humorous Speech contest once.
Phil has learned many things from all these accomplishments, and he has a passion for sharing what he has learned. Phil has been invited multiple times to give educational-type presentations to clubs, especially in the area of Speech Evaluations. Phil has also taken the opportunity to mentor others, as he has mentored the Blue Note Speakers and SpeakEasy Dow clubs. It is this passion for sharing his knowledge that drives Phil to continuously seek training and mentoring opportunities.
