Dave Reid, PHR, DTM, SSGB                    

(District Governor) 

Dave’s a very experienced and versatile human resources professional, working as a HR Specialist for Cameron International. Prior to Cameron – he’s held HR positions of increasing responsibility providing human resources expertise in talent acquisition, labor and employee relations, and training and development.  He holds the designation of “PHR”, as a Professional in Human Resources, who’s certified to teach Zenger-Miller (Achieve Global) leadership development modules, and provides expertise as a Six Sigma Green Belt (SSGB). His education includes a Bachelor and Master degrees from The University of Maryland and Indiana Wesleyan University respectively, majoring in Management.  

He’s previously served the District, as Area 3 Governor, (President’s Distinguished), Conference Co Chair, (Lafayette) and last year as Lt. Governor of Education and Training. Also, he’s achieved recognition as a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), Triple Crown Award and Area Governor of the Year for 2010-2011

His professional affiliations include the National Society of Human Resources Management, (SHRM), and National Society of African Americans in Human Resources (NAAHR); He joined the Evangeline Toastmasters (Lafayette) in 2004, and served in numerous club roles – culminating as VP of Education, and President.  When not involved in Toastmaster’s, he devotes time to sports, music, movies, and spending quality time with his wife.

Bryan Jolley is a Senior Reservoir Engineer with Shell Exploration & Production Company in New Orleans, where he’s been employed since February 2007.  His expertise has allowed him to grasp and cover many different facets of petroleum engineering, drilling of new wells, production surveillance, forecasting, and project management.  Prior to Shell, Bryan earned both his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, where he returns annually to mentor others. Bryan’s quickly discovered how Toastmasters has contributed to improving his skills and impact on the job. This has been most useful in joint venture management and project leadership roles, where quick thinking and clear communication key.

Bryan Jolley joined Toastmasters in May 2007, at the suggestion of his first manager at Shell.  Since, Bryan has earned both the Advanced Leader Bronze and Advanced Communicator Bronze awards, and intends to earn his DTM certification by June 2013.  His Toastmasters experience and expertise, has afforded him numerous opportunities to speak at Shell’s training and diversity events.  Additionally, Bryan has spoken on behalf of District 68 at Tulane University, multiple conferences locally, and most recently, at the District’s – 2011 Fall Conference in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Bryan has been a club officer at Shell’s Club since 2007, serving as VPM, VPE, and President.  Bryan additionally has served in 2010-2011 as Area 12 Governor and as  Division C Governor in 2011- 2012, covering clubs in greater New Orleans and Monroe, Louisiana.

Bryan’s wife Christina, teaches high school English and known as the best grammarian. Currently, residing in Mandeville, Louisiana upon relocating from Pennsylvania, and hope to stay in New Orleans for many years. 

Raul Otero, DTM

Raul Otero is a Chemical Engineer with 37 years of experience in the field of Chemical Engineering.  Raul has worked for several companies and held positions like Lead Process Engineer and Project Engineering Manager.  In these positions Raul Otero has provided process support that has very positively improved the bottom line of the company.  In the Project Management arena he has managed the construction of capital projects valued at over $50MM.  All of the projects were completed on time, on schedule, and on budget.  All the projects started-up without a problem and exceeded their expected performance.  Raul currently works with Total where he is a Process Support Engineering Advisor.  In this position he contributes with seasoned process engineering knowledge that has a positive impact on the refinery bottom line. 

Raul Otero is a PE in Louisiana and Puerto Rico.  He is currently reactivating his Louisiana PE license in order to get the Texas PE license.  This will allow him to practice his profession as a licensed professional chemical engineer in both Texas and Louisiana.

Raul Otero joined Toastmasters on July 2009.  Since joining Toastmaster Raul has become a very active member of Toastmasters.  He has attended all of the conferences, TLI’s, and DEC meeting that have required his attendance.  He has given educational presentations at two conferences and has been a Triple Crown winner two consecutive times.  Raul Otero has reached the level of Distinguished Toastmaster twice, one in June 2011 and the 2nd in August 2011.

Raul Otero has also taken positions of leadership in District 68.  He has been Area Governor and Division Governor in District 68 for the years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.  He earned, in both positions, the title of Area Governor of the Year and Division Governor of the Year award for the respective years1.
