Chic Miller has been a charter member of Celebration Toastmasters since 2012. He has held the offices of President, VPPR, VPM, and Sgt. at Arms. During his term as President, the club achieved Presidents Distinguished status for the first time. He currently holds the positions of Vice-President of Education in this club and is President of the Kenner Celebration Toastmasters. He is also an active member of the Advanced Club Golden Crescent Toastmasters.
Chic currently holds the rank of Advanced Communicator Gold and Advanced Leader Bronze and is working on his Advanced Leader Silver and DTM.
Since joining Toastmasters, Chic has mentored many club members and helped them to achieve the rank of Competent Communicator.
He represented District 68 in the 2015 International Speech Contest in Las Vegas and has used this experience to develop and organize a coaching program for contestants in this year’s International Speech Contest.
He has attended Toastmasters Leadership Institute for every position he has served and taught or led breakout sessions at several of them.
For the last year, he has served as the Area 14 Director.
When he’s not working on the Toastmasters area of his life, he is the proud father of two children. His son is a church Pastor and his daughter is a stay-at-home mom and part-time hair stylist. Between the two of them, Chic has eight grandchildren that are devoted to their “Pappy.”
He is very active in his church and outside ministries and, for the last five years, he has taught the “Life Skills” and “Too Good for Drugs” programs in Kindergarten through 8th Grade in New Orleans & Jefferson parish schools.
Before he retired, Chic was a Group Sales Representative, Area Coordinator and Corporate Trainer for Legal Shield Inc. and for 17 years, he was the City Manager of Preferred Exhibitor Services, a national convention services company which allowed him to hone his skills in management, marketing, logistics, and planning.
His vision is to expand and improve the Toastmasters experience for every member in District 68 and he is uniquely gifted to accomplish it.
